HypnoBirthing Services

The Power of Education

This course is affiliated with the HypnoBirthing® Institute and taught in English. It is a series of 5 weekly sessions at 2.5 hours each, taught over 5 consecutive weeks . Classes are taught at a studio in Amsterdam, either privately, or in a group setting, and are a mix of theory and practice.


Classes will cover the following:

  • The physiology of birth and how to make those birth hormones work for you.

  • The different stages of labor, what to expect, and breathing techniques to support you through each stage. 

  • The role of your nervous system in birth, the impact of fear in labor and the power of the mind.

  • What are surges, why they are essential for birthing and how to maximize the cocktail of hormones we need to labor.

  • How to use self-relaxation, hypnosis and deepening techniques during pregnancy, and prepare you body and mind for birth. 

  • Addressing and letting go of fears and / or limiting thoughts.

  • The power of visualizations and affirmations in the birth process.

  • Relaxation, massage and self-hypnosis techniques.

  • The preparation of your birth preferences, the options available and what is important to you?

  • The role of your birth partner and how they can support you during labor and birth.

  • Knowing and understanding your options in birth, and using decision making tools should your birth take a different course.

The Course Syllabus

The course is structured in a way so that your mind and body will be conditioned to relax and let go.  The 5 sessions are set out as follows:

Laying the Foundations - Creating positive expectations

  • The philosophy and beginnings of HypnoBirthing.

  • The History of Women and Birthing

  • How fear affects labour and the power of the mind.

  • Our amazing bodies and how they are perfectly designed to birth.

  • The mind body connection - accepting and trusting your natural birthing instincts. 

  • The influence of vocabulary and choosing the right vocabulary for the birthing room.

  • The power of visualisation - viewing beautiful gentle birthing videos

Bonding with your baby - Preparing your Mind and Body

  • The connection between parents and baby —Pre-birth, perinatal and postnatal bonding.

  • Rapid, self-relaxation, hypnosis and deepening techniques.

  • Breathing techniques for Labour and birthing.

  • Visualisations.

  • Choosing your care provider and preparing your birth environment.

  • Preparing your mind and body for birthing.

Labour and Birthing - Advanced Visualisations and Deepening

  • Preparing your birth Preferences.

  • Preparing the body for birthing.

  • Light touch massage.

  • Your body and your baby, working with you and for you.

  • Attaining a natural start to labour, and how to avoid artificial induction.

  • Releasing fears and limiting thoughts.

  • Onset of Labour – Thinning and Opening Phase.

  • Arriving at the hospital or birthing centre, and when to go!
